CRFD: 30 people displaced after flames break out at apartment complex
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia-Richland Fire Department was able to extinguish an apartment fire that left multiple displaced on Friday, says the department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene off of Kay Street shortly before 11:15 this morning, says the fire department.
Upon their arrival to the scene fire could be seen coming from the second floor of one building.
CRFD second shift firefighters along with Irmo Fire worked together to extinguish flames at 3430 East Apartments.
Firefighters say about half of the buildings units were damaged by the fire. No injuries were reported but 30 people including 15 adults and 15 children are left displaced.
The Red Cross is being called in to provide assistance. The Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office will be looking into what caused the fire.
