SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man has been arrested after deputies say he shot into an occupied home.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Kinnard Thorne arrived at a home near Gilbert Street and began a verbal dispute with the residents of the home and threatened to kill everyone at the home shortly after seven o’clock in the evening of Friday, May 17.

It is also reported that Thorne then fired shots at the home.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived to the scene due to a report of shots being fired into a residence, Thorne had already left the area.

Upon investigating the report, deputies interviewed eyewitnesses and collected evidence.

On Saturday, May 18,  Thorne met with investigators at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and was interviewed.

Investigators say he provided a voluntary statement of his version of the events and following the interview he was placed under arrest for firing into an occupied dwelling.

Thorne was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
