Firefighters, EMS work together to free victim from under car

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– On Monday evening Irmo firefighters and Lexington EMS worked together to help someone who was trapped under their car, say Irmo firefighters.

Irmo firefighters say they responded to a report about a car owner being partially underneath a vehicle while attempting to repair a car in the Auto Zone parking lot when the car slipped off a jack and pinned the owner underneath.

Lexington County EMS crews rendered patient care while Irmo Fire District crews worked to stabilize the car, then lifted it off the victim.

The victim’s arm was entangled under the car which is what complicated the rescue, Irmo FD.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
