Gas leak contained after accident on SC 121

Newberry Co., S.C. (WOLO)– According to officials, the accident on SC 121 at Belfast is cleared and CNNGA has contained the gas leak. The school in the area has returned to normal.

Newberry Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies with the Newberry Co. Sheriff’s Office say an accident caused a gas leak and put a school on secure status.

Deputies say it happened Wednesday morning on SC 121.

According to deputies an accident involving a log truck caused a puncture in a natural gas leak.

The area has been isolated and no traffic is being allowed in the area.

Deputies say, out of precaution, Newberry Middle School is on alert and shelter in place.
