Alvin S. Glenn juvenile wing to possibly close under new plan
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The juvenile wing of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center may be closing in the near future.
Yesterday, Richland County council members voted to move forward with the recommendation with the full council expected to discuss the issue at a later date.
County officials told the Post and Courier that closing the juvenile wing is intended to help meet staffing needs in the adult facilities.
The juveniles would then be taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice which says they are already facing overcrowding issues.
