Orangeburg Co. deputies: Man arrested after stealing fuel from church van

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)– A man has been arrested by Orangeburg County deputies after stealing fuel from a church van, said investigators.

According to Orangeburg County investigators, 24-year-old Christopher Morgan has been charged with breaking into motor vehicle or tanks, pumps, where fuel or lubricants are stored and one count of petit larceny.

“There’s just something about taking from a church, but he’ll have some time to think about that,” Sheriff Ravenell said.

Authorities say Morgan’s charges stem from an incident that happened on Monday at a church where parishioners reported a van had been damaged.

Security cameras captured footage showing someone take a quantity of gas from a church van after a hole had been drilled in the fuel tank, said OCSO.

Morgan was taken into custody at a home near North on Thursday, May 23, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
