LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County deputies say a Columbia man accused of murder in connection to a shooting death on Tuesday night has been arrested.

Johnnie Quawnetel Mack is accused of killing John Darrick Rumph in Gaston on Tuesday night, May 21. Rumph was shot once in the upper body area.

“Based on interviews with witnesses, the shooting stems from an incident between Mack and Rumph earlier that evening. Mack returned to the home on Glenn Road where he fired multiple shots at Rumph,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon says.

Mack is being charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to arrest warrants.

He turned himself in Thursday night and is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center after a magistrate judge denied him bond Friday.
