Memorial Day events in the Midlands 2024
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor fallen service men and women who fought for the country.
Anybody looking to celebrate the day and honor veterans in the Midlands, here is a list of some events below.
Town of Chapin:
On Monday, May 27, the Town of Chapin will hold an event to honor fallen service men and women at their Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the Chapin American Legion Post 193. The outdoor event will be held in front of the Town Hall building at 10 a.m. For more information, click here.
Orangeburg County:
Orangeburg County is having a Memorial Day ceremony on Sunday, May 26 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker of the ceremony will be Major General (RET.) Todd B. McCaffrey. It is being held at 1643 Russell Street in Orangeburg.
West Columbia:
- In West Columbia there will be a church service to honor veterans at Mt. Hermon on 3011 Leaphart Road on Monday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
- There will be a Memorial Day Dance and Potluck on Saturday, May 25. Doors open at 6 p.m. for people to enjoy a DJ and a line band, the flag ceremony begins at 8 p.m.
- A 4th annual Memorial Day Remembrance event hosted by Congaree Cares & Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church will begin at 3 p.m. at the South Congaree Arena on Saturday, may 25.
Sumter County:
The Sumter County Veterans Association is inviting the public to take part in its annual Memorial Day ceremony where all who served will be honored and remembered. The memorial ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at Sumter Veterans Flag Park.
Richland County:
- Palmetto Concert Band is holding its annual Memorial Day Concert on Sunday, May 26. The concert is free to the public and begins at 4 p.m. at the Koger Center for the Arts.
- Clutch Coffee, The small coffee chain will be serving free americanos to military members throughout all Memorial Day at any Clutch location.
Lexington County:
Caughman Harman Funeral Home is holding a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. The service is located at the funeral home on 503 N. Lake Drive in Lexington.
