Spotify device that let users stream music over sound system will stop working once discontinued

(CNN)– A Spotify device that let users stream music over their car’s sound system will stop working later this year.

On Thursday, the music streaming service said it is discontinuing ‘Car Thing’, citing low product demand and supply chain issues.

The product made it possible for users who didn’t have a built-in infotainment system in their cars to stream music using the Spotify mobile app.

Spotify said the devices will stop working on December 9th and there are no plans to release a new version.
