SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter woman accused of giving a minor marijuana was arrested after a Saturday afternoon traffic stop, say deputies.

Investigators say witnesses were interviewed who stated that in January, a victim called Melissa Renae Burkett-Neville and asked her to pick them up at a Sumter County business.

Burkett-Neville picked up the victim and took them to her home where she gave the victim marijuana, say Sumter County deputies.

On Saturday afternoon, May 18, Burkett-Neville was arrested after a Sumter County Deputy saw a vehicle with illegally dark window tints.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy performed a routine traffic stop and inspected the tinting and found no certification of compliance.

After further investigating into the identity of the driver, it was revealed that she had an outstanding warrant.

Burkett-Neville was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where she was served the arrest warrant and booked into custody.

Following a bond hearing, she was given a $5,000 surety bond, which was posted on Saturday, May 19.
