LRADAC along with Knowledge is Power Community Coalition presents Rock the Block
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– LRADAC along with the Richland County Knowledge is Power Community Coalition is inviting the public to Rock the Block and help local kids and families celebrate the first day of summer break.
On Saturday, June 1, from 12 p.m. – to 4 p.m. at Fairlawn Community Center (9128 Wilson Blvd) people in the community can enjoy the beginning of their Summer break.
LRADAC Communications Director Robbie Robertson says Grateful Greens Farm, the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, and other Richland County Knowledge is Power Community Coalition members will offer games, food, a bouncy house, and health and safety resources.
LRADAC’s Prevention team will also be at the event with handouts and educational materials on substance misuse and how to avoid tobacco, drugs, and alcohol in the formative years.
“Because summertime is when many kids first experiment with substances, we wanted to reach them at this critical point with education and prevention materials offered up in a non-threatening and open manner,” said Ashley Bodiford, LRADAC’s Prevention Director.
The Rock the Block event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact LRADAC’s Prevention team at 803-726-9300.
