Worst box office Memorial Day weekend since 1995

(CNN)– Did you go to the movies this weekend? If you answered no, you’re far from alone.

And it signals the worst U.S. box office returns for a Memorial Day weekend in nearly three decades.

According to Comscore, ticket sales for the weekend through Monday are estimated at $128 million.

That’s well below last year when sales tallied to about $205 million.

Analysts are blaming this year’s lackluster sales on the lingering impact from the Hollywood strikes.
