McDonald’s hits back against recent price hike reports

(CNN)– McDonald’s is hitting back against online criticism over recent price hike reports.

Wednesday, the president of McDonald’s USA said reports of the company raising prices significantly beyond inflationary rates is inaccurate.

He also said he’s frustrated at hearing about an $18 Big Mac meal being sold. In 2019, the average price of a Big Mac in the U.S. was $4.39.

Following the pandemic and supply chain costs, the average price for the signature burger is now $5.29 which the company president says is only a 21% increase.
