National Microchip Your Pet Month

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– June is National Microchip Your Pet Month and the Columbia Animal Services is also offering free micro-chipping for dogs every Wednesday this month, excluding the Juneteenth holiday.

City of Columbia and Richland County residents can take their dog to the shelter from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the free service with proof of residency.

No appointment is necessary.

Micro-chipping is a permanent form of identification, implanted just under your pet’s skin, and carries a unique ID number linked to your contact information.

This plays a crucial role in reuniting lost pets with their families.
