SC expands Property Tax exemption for disabled veterans

Disabled veterans can now obtain a South Carolina Property Tax exemption on real estate from the year in which they became disabled, says the department of revenue.

(WPDE) — Disabled veterans can now obtain a South Carolina Property Tax exemption on real estate from the year in which they became disabled, says the department of revenue.
This change is effective immediately and retroactive to 2022.
Surviving spouses of disabled veterans can receive the same exemption, regardless of whether their veteran spouse applied for or claimed the exemption.
The new law also extends the Property Tax exemption to disabled veterans’ vehicles.
