SC Highway Patrol, SCDOT conducts hurricane evacuation exercise

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– If you saw an excessive amount of troopers on I-26 today, they were preparing for hurricane season with a simulation exercise.

South Carolina Highway Patrol along with SCDOT practiced a hurricane lane reversal exercise, but no lanes were actually reversed.

I-26 is a route for those evacuating the Palmetto State’s coast during a hurricane.

This preparation allows state agencies to be ready in the case of a hurricane.
