Senate votes against access to contraception

(CNN)– Today the senate voted on a bill that would guarantee access to contraception nationwide.

“The Right To Contraception Act” would enshrine into federal law a right for individuals to buy and use contraceptives, including birth control pills and condoms.

The measure is part of democrats’ push to highlight reproductive issues as the U.S. marks two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade.

The measure failed due to republicans saying it is too broad.

GOP senators have introduced their own version of legislation that does not include Plan B, which they consider an abortive service.
