Wrong way driver killed in early morning collision on I-77
RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a wrong way driver died in a collision with a tractor-trailer on I-77 this morning.
Lance Corporal Brittany Glover says it happened at 2:38 a.m. on I-77 North at mile marker 12.
According to investigators, the driver of a 2002 Mazda was driving south in a northbound lane when they hit the tractor-trailer.
The Mazda driver died on scene while the tractor-trailer driver wasn’t hurt.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the victim.
