Coroner identifies man whose body was found in woods

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person whose body was found in a wooded area on Roundtree Court in the Gaston area, says the coroner’s office.

The body was discovered around 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, in Lexington County.

According to Coroner Fisher, Joseph Matthew Kosmos, 37, of Lexington was reported as a missing person in May of 2024, and his body was discovered by a 911 caller.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, at MUSC in Charleston.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to investigate.
