Investigation into stolen trailer leads to quantity of illegal drugs being found

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced the case leading to a stolen trailer ended up leading investigators to a quantity of illegal drugs.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office investigators were notified by a North man that his utility trailer was posted on a social media marketplace and it was discovered as stolen that afternoon.

Investigators tracked the trailer to a Millwood Farm Road residence where they found the trailer was still attached to the vehicle from the marketplace ad, say Orangeburg deputies.

As deputies approached an outbuilding at the home, investigators say they saw a man hand over a bag to another man, which was later determined to contain marijuana.

“When we pulled up to check on the trailer, we wound up in the middle of a drug transaction,” Sheriff Ravenell says.

The man stated he was only “smelling” the contents of the bag, according to the report.

Multiple jars of marijuana, a large bag of marijuana, several bottles of THC syrup, THC vapes, gummies, extract oils, mushrooms, digital scales, a food grade sealer and a grinder, and other drug-related paraphernalia were found.

“The end result is the seizure of several types of narcotics and drug paraphernalia,” continues the sheriff.

Warrants have been obtained for 53-year-old Roger Salley, who is facing charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking methamphetamine or cocaine base, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon.

And Micky Robinson, 58, of Sumter, is charged with simple possession of marijuana.

“We seized more than 6,100 grams of marijuana that won’t see the streets,” says the Orangeburg County sheriff.
