REPORTS: Paul Mainieri set to be new USC baseball coach

Gamecock baseball is expected to hire former LSU champion coach Paul Mainieri as their next leader, according to multiple reports.

Most recently, Mainieri was the man in charge at LSU for 14 seasons. During his time in Baton Rouge, Mainieri led the Tigers to a national championship in 2009 and a runner-up finish in 2017.

Mainieri retired following the 2021 season and has not coached since then. The 66-year-old, Mainairi,  has won 1,501 games, four SEC championships, and six conference tournament titles

Baseball America followed by D1-Baseball broke the massive news Monday afternoon.

The big news comes one week after Athletic Director, Ray Tanner parted ways with former Gamecock baseball head coach, Mark Kingston. Monte Lee is currently serving as interim head coach.

On Tuesday, The Board of Trustees is set to meet for a meeting at 4:00 p.m.
