Pet of the Week: Yukon!
LEXINGTON CO., (WOLO)- Meet Yukon! Unfortunately, this sweet boy has grown up at Lexington County Animal Services, and would really love to finally experience the love and care he deserves in a home.
Yukon came to the shelter as a 3 month old puppy. He is now 9 months old!
Shelter staff think Yukon is a lab-hound mix. He is a sweet and loving boy who loves to play with other dogs, and even has fun entertaining himself if he doesn’t have a buddy. Yukon is at a great age for someone looking to still experience the puppy years, but who wants a treat-motivated and eager to please pup. Yukon already knows how to sit!
June tends to be the busiest month for shelters, and Lexington County Animal Services could really use the community’s help over the next few months as they undergo renovations and lose critical kennel space. “We do have a program called Save a Pet, and through this program an animal can literally be rescued by the public. All vaccines are done, everybody’s been microchipped. If they pet has not been spayed/neutered yet, they would accept responsibility for that. However we can offer a voucher and that will help cover some of the cost,” says Lisa Thomas with the shelter.
The first week of July, you can also take advantage of $10 adoptions for the July 4th holiday! Any pet there longer than 30 days, like Yukon, will be free!
If you’re interested in adopting Yukon, come to the shelter at 321 Ball Park Rd., Lexington. You’re encouraged to bring any other furry or human friends along too to ensure a successful adoption!
