Amazon facing legal claims from drivers over wages
(CNN)– Amazon contract drivers want more benefits.
They say they are minimum wage employees who should have overtime rights.
So yesterday, more than 15 thousand of them filed arbitration claims against the company.
Flex drivers are contract workers who deliver same day packages for Amazon.
Right now the e-commerce giant classifies them as independent contractors who earn between $18 to $25 an hour.
But lawyers for the drivers say Amazon only pays the drivers for a pre-determined “block”.
So if a driver books a three hour block, they only get paid for those hours even if deliveries take more time.
