Department of Juvenile Justice hosted free event to speak out against gun violence

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Department of Juvenile Justice hosted a free event to speak out against gun violence on Friday, June 14.

The Peace Up, Guns Down event took place at the Crane Creek Community Center on Fairfield Road. There were games and food for the kids.

They also heard from Leteas Means, a mother who lost her son to gun violence in 2018.

Amon Rice, a Lower Richland student athlete was shot and killed in Hopkins at age 17.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott and Coroner Nadia Rutherford also took part in the event.
