Suspect wanted for Failure to Appear, Unlawful Conduct Toward Child spotted in KY
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — A man wanted for Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child and Failure to Appear last week has been spotted in the Leesburg area of Harrison County, Kentucky. The Georgetown Police Department, which is one of several agencies assisting in the search say Ginter is believed to be traveling with a woman identified as Riley Pearson who authorities say is currently listed as missing from South Carolina.
According to the Cynthiana Police Department, 43 year old Nathan Ginter wanted out of Richland County was last seen Tuesday June 18, 2024, nearly a week after being convicted by a Richland County jury after a three day trial.
Ginter was convicted on four counts of unlawful conduct towards a child for the chronic physical abuse of his three-year-old daughter.
Since he failed to appear for his trial, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Ginter is accused of abusing his daughter as a form of punishment which then escalated into torture between January 2022 and March 2022. Investigators say he began caning the child by using a bamboo stick and leaving bruises on her body.
The torture then became more pronounced over time as he first gave her cold baths and showers in the form of waterboarding, says the solicitor’s office.
He is also accused of using a drive stun gun on her buttocks over the duration of several weeks which left second degree burns.
Authorities say all of the incidents happened in front of the child’s 9-year-old sister who was called to testify about the abuse the child had to endure.
The abuse was reported by the victim’s grandfather with the help of his daughter, who is the child’s aunt after they noticed the burns on the child’s buttocks.
During the investigation, digital forensics were used to extract information from the phones of both the child’s mother’s and the defendant, resulting in numerous text messages and images documenting the abuse over those three months. Officials say there was also video evidence of the waterboarding incidents. A reward of $5,000 dollars is being offered for his arrest.
The Fifth Judicial Circuit Court says his sentence has been sealed by the court until he is arrested on the bench warrant. Authorities say Ginter is considered armed and dangerous.
