U.S. sues Adobe over hard-to-cancel subscriptions

(CNN)– The Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Adobe Monday.

It claims the company made it difficult for customers to cancel subscriptions to products like Photoshop and Illustrator.

Prosecutors say Adobe hid details of cancellation fees ‘in fine print and behind optional test boxes and hyperlinks’.

Lawyers also say Adobe made it difficult to cancel at all, with a call center that dropped calls and bounced customers between representatives.

Adobe claims its subscription terms are transparent and the cancellation process is simple.
