Richland One launches retiree recharge program
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland One has launched a new program for former teachers looking to come out of retirement, says the district.
The district is searching for retired teachers who are ready to get back into the classroom.
Through the district’s new Retiree Recharge Program, retired teachers from any school district are invited to work in Richland One School District and choose a schedule that works best for them, whether that’s teaching full-time or part-time, teaching a specific number of hours/classes weekly, or serving as substitute teachers when they are available.
All retired teachers who have a South Carolina teaching certificate are eligible to participate in the program, says the school district.
“We believe that these experienced and motivated teachers will help provide the best quality instruction to our students and serve as role models to the new generation of educators,” said Dr. Felicia Richardson, Richland One’s coordinator of recruitment and retention.
An informational luncheon for retired teachers about the Retiree Recharge Program will be held on Wednesday, June 26, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Heyward Career and Technology Center (3560 Lynhaven Drive, Columbia, SC 29204).
