Columbia PD arrest 3 teens, 1 adult accused of carjacking, armed robberies

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — One adult, and three teenagers have been charged in connection to multiple carjacking and armed robberies. According to CPD, 18-year-old Jayden Rainey, 18-year-old Lamar Wilson, 19-year-old Michael Davis, and 20-year-old Je’Korey Rainey-Smith are accused of stealing cars from victims at gunpoint.

Police say the four suspects have been accused of incidents dating back to the beginning of this month. CPD says the first incidents took place just before midnight on June 9, 2024, in the 4200 block of Grand Street where authorities say the men demanded keys to a 2020 Chevy Equinox at gunpoint. Just after 2 a.m. on June 16, 2024, investigators say the men struck again along the same street. This time nabbing a 2024 Toyota Camry rental car from a male victim at gunpoint. Just yesterday, Sunday June 23, 2024, just before 7 p.m. authorities say the men stole a 2018 Chevy Silverado from a man and his 8-year-old son at gunpoint in the 4000 Ulmer Road.

Columbia Police say that car was recovered about an hour later in the 3700 block of Marsteller Street. CPD investigators tracked the four suspects to the Latimer Manor Apartments in the 100 block of Lorick Circle. Officials say all four of the men ran into an apartment where they were arrested.

Police say they also did a search of the property following their arrests where they seized four handguns, two of which officials say were stolen and drug paraphernalia. All of the suspects face various charges including armed robbery, and carjacking.

According to the Columbia Police Department all but one of the four have been denied bond.
