FBI asking for help identifying man in connection with child sexual exploitation investigation

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking the public’s help identifying information regarding an unknown male who may have critical information on the identity of a child victim in an ongoing sexual exploitation investigation.

The individual currently known as John Doe 48 is described as a white male between the ages of 45 and 65 years old, with dark hair, and a gray beard.

FBI investigators say he has a tattoo on each of his forearms.

In a video of John Doe 48, which was first recorded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in December of 2023, he is seen in the back of a 2018-2019 Nissan NV Cargo Van wearing a blue t-shirt and a dark-colored hat.

The individual is being sought as part of the FBI’s Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP) initiatives.
