2 men arrested in connection with multiple burglaries at self storage locations
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Two men have been arrested in connection with several burglaries that took place at two self storage locations, says RCSD.
Marshall Poston and McGregor Wallace are accused of burglarizing the Midgard Self Storage on Legrand Road and the Midgard Self Storage on Atlas Road.
Authorities say Midgard Self Storage management alerted them of the burglaries and between mid-May and mid-June, an estimated 70-90 storage units were burglarized.
Poston was arrested on June 14, and charged with multiple counts of burglary 2nd, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Several firearms were recovered from Poston’s residence, two of which were discovered as stolen, say investigators.
Wallace was arrested on June 18, and charged with multiple counts of burglary 2nd, receiving stolen goods, grand larceny, and financial transaction card theft.
Both men were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
RCSD investigators say they will continue to investigate possible co-defendants who may be facing similar charges.
RCSD investigators estimate that hundreds of thousands of dollars in property has been recovered.
Property recovered by the RCSD is currently being stored in a space accessible to victims, so that deputies can reunite victims with their belongings.
However, all property will need to be removed from the temporary space and moved to a more permanent facility by July 31, says RCSD.
RCSD investigators are asking individuals who have storage space at either of the facilities to make sure their place was not burglarized and if it was, contact RCSD to make a report so they can try to connect victims with their belongings.
All victims who have already made a report are asked to call their assigned investigator and set up a time to look through the recovered property.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department worked with the Columbia Police Department on the investigation as one of the locations is in CPD’s jurisdiction.
