Job opening unexpectedly grew in May
(CNN)– The number of available jobs in the U.S. unexpectedly grew in May.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job openings jumped to more than 8 million.
That’s up from the 7.9 million from the previous month economists were actually expecting job openings would decline.
Other seasonably adjusted measures of labor turnover showed continued stability in the jobs market, which has gradually cooled in recent months.
Currently there are 1.2 jobs available for every person seeking employment, matching a number not seen in four years.
