CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)– A Columbia woman is accused of stealing furniture items from a furniture stores, says Chapin Police.

The Chapin Police Department says 43-year-old Courtney Bond is accused of stealing two furniture items from the Chapin Furniture store at 660 Columbia Ave.

After she took the items, she fled the scene in a white Nissan.

A description of her and the vehicle were provided to officers along with video and sent to neighboring law enforcement agencies to be on the look out.

Columbia Police saw the vehicle near Piney Grove Road shortly after the theft and were able to stop and detain her.

Investigators say the vehicle Bond was driving was also stolen from a gas station earlier on Tuesday, July 2, on N. Main St in Columbia.

Bond was taken into custody by Chapin Police officers and then taken to the Lexington County Jail. She was charged with Shoplifting <$2,000 (Enhancement).

The stolen merchandise was returned to the Chapin Furniture Store and Columbia Police are continuing their investigation related to the stolen vehicle.
