12th annual Ryan Rawl Memorial Workout

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– At that State house on Thursday morning, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department held its 12th annual ‘Ryan Rawl Memorial Workout’.

First Lieutenant and Deputy Ryan Rawl died in 2012 at the age of 30 while serving with the Army National Guard in Afghanistan.

Sheriff Leon Lott says he promised Ryan’s mother that Ryan would never be forgotten and the group workout is one way the department chooses to honor him each year.

Those who took part say they are proud to honor the fallen hero.

According to the sheriff’s department proceeds from this year’s event will go to “The Big Red Barn Retreat”, providing services to veterans and first responders.
