A temporary detour is also planned for the ramp from I-126 Westbound onto I-26 Eastbound in the early morning hours on Tuesday, July 9.

The detour will help SCDOT deliver concrete to build the deck of the new Colonial Life Boulevard bridge over I-126.

The Department of Transportation says, the detour will begin just after midnight on Tuesday, July 9, with the closure of the existing flyover ramp and will remain in effect continuously until 6 a.m. with the completion of the concrete delivery.

Detour Directions:

  • Drivers traveling from I-126 Westbound to I-26 Eastbound will be directed to take Exit 107A toward I-20 Westbound. Within the interchange loop, motorists will stay to the right and proceed to merge onto I-26 Eastbound toward Charleston.
  • A message board will be placed along I-126 Westbound prior to the Colonial Life Boulevard exit ramp and will remain throughout the duration of the detour to notify motorists of the temporary traffic pattern. Detour signage will be placed along the route.

Drivers are advised to use caution and plan accordingly in case of delays. Real-time traffic information is available at 511sc.org.

The public may contact the Project Hotline at 800-601-8715.
