Richland County coroner identifies victim of fatal Garner’s Crossing Apartments shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the man that was killed in a shooting at Garner’s Crossing Apartments on Thursday, July 4, says the coroner’s office.

According to Coroner Rutherford, the victim is identified as Jose Ocasio Torres, 33, of Columbia.

A 50-year-old man, Pedro Leon-Rodriguez was charged in connection to Torres fatal shooting.

“We will continue working with the Columbia Police Department to fully investigate this shooting”, Coroner Rutherford states.
