KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A woman was arrested by Kershaw County deputies and charged with burglary, larceny, and trespassing, says KCSO.

Kershaw County deputies say the woman was living in a vacant Lugoff home without the owner’s permission.

The woman told the property owner that someone rented her the house and she had a written rental agreement to prove it.

KCSO investigators made several attempts to contact the individual to verify if she was a victim of a rental scam, says the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say she refused to cooperate by leaving the residence, not returning phone calls, and changing her phone number.

Deputies were later able to locate the woman at an Elgin vacant home that was on the market for sale.

Also, investigators were able to make contact with the real estate agent who stated the woman did not have permission to be there.

While inside the home, deputies found property from the previous Lugoff home it was stolen from.

She was arrested and charged with burglary, larceny, and trespassing.
