Local Living: School supply drive, back-to-school bash, Pigskin Poets, Ride to End Alzheimer’s

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, the Cayce Police Department is hosting their annual school supply drive.

They’re accepting donations for Lexington School District Two students at the police department on Lavern Jumper Road.

You can donate items like pencils, pens, backpacks, folders and more.

 

The Sandhills Medical Foundation is hosting a back-to-school bash this Saturday.

It’s from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at their location on Baldwin Avenue in Lugoff.

Your kids must be there to get their free school supplies while they last.

You can enjoy games, face painting, plenty of popcorn, and more.

 

Don’t miss the 28th annual Pigskin Poets event.

The University of South Carolina football team will take a break from the field and tackle the stage with Richland Library.

The program emphasizes the importance of Summer reading for children of all ages.

It takes place Friday, July 12th from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Drew Wellness Center.

 

The Alzheimer’s Association of South Carolina is hosting its 16th annual Ride to End Alzheimer’s event this week.

From July 12th until July 14th, more than 400 cyclists will travel across the Midlands and the Palmetto State to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association.

Officials say they have more than 832 thousand dollars raised of their 1.5 million dollar goal.
