Dozens of Midlands students march at SC State University
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)– Dozens of Midlands students marched across the campus of South Carolina State in Orangeburg on Thursday, July 11.
The students were part of a youth mentorship Summer camp hosted by the nonprofit organization “Why Not Young Lives”.
The group was founded by an SC State graduate and puts on a 5-week Summer academy for grades 3 through 8.
Part of the experience includes a day of service where children learned about banned books as well as the orangeburg massacre.
Kids also presented poems, songs and other forms of art related to the subjects discussed.
The organization was founded in 2020 and serves around 65 scholars during its Summer program.
