Increase in firearms at TSA checkpoint

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– TSA officials say they have seen an increase in guns confiscated at airport check-ins in South Carolina.

According to the Transportation Security Administration, in the first 6 months of 2024, officers discovered 54 firearms in travelers carry-on luggage at Palmetto State airports.

That’s up from 42 during the same period last year. Here in Columbia, officers say they have confiscated 8 guns so far in 2024.
