COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lexington County jury has found a man guilty on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, says the attorney general’s office.
According to Attorney General Alan Wilson, Michael Scott Valdario was found guilty on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 1st degree and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 2nd degree.
Officials say the case began in September of 2020 when the parents of a victim gave their child’s phone to law enforcement.
The phone contained a pattern of conversations and requests lasting for months of a person identified as Michael Valdario asking for images and videos of the minor engaging in sexual activity or appearing in a state of sexually explicit nudity, according to authorities.
A judge sentenced Valdario to two years on each sexual exploitation of a minor, 2nd degree to run concurrently, and four years on each sexual exploitation of a minor, 1st degree to run consecutively for a total of 10 years of incarceration.
