RCSD’s 13th Annual Guardians of the Night K9 5K starts July 20

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – You have the chance to run alongside Richland County K9 officers & their handlers in a special event this month!

Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s 13th Annual Guardians of the Night K9 5K starts Saturday, July 20 at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds at 1200 Rosewood Drive.

Curtis spoke with Sgt. Warren Cavanagh about how this event honors their fallen K9 officers and brings the community together.

The family run/walk that’s not timed starts at 8:30 p.m., while the timed 5K starts at 9:30 p.m.

All proceeds will go towards the department’s K9 fund that pays for training, food, safety equipment, custom-fit ballistic vests and more.
