Inflation could impact social security
(CNN)– Inflation is cooling down which could impact the amount seniors receive for social security payments next year. It has to do with cost of living adjustments.
According to the latest estimate from the Senior Citizens League, social security recipients can expect payments to increase about 2.6% in 2025.
Last year’s cost of living increase was 3.2%. Cost of living adjustments for social security are determined using data from July through September.
So if inflation continues to cool, that adjustment could be smaller.
