Local Living: Sumter Police’s back-to-school bash, Columbia Police’s back-to-school bash, “Ready Set Supply” drive

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, the Sumter Police Department is hosting a back-to-school bash next week.
The event will feature face painting, balloon artists, hot dogs, and more.
It takes place on Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Birnie Hope Center on South Purdy Street.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Columbia Police Department’s Community Services Bureau is hosting a free back-to-school bash next weekend.
It’s next Sunday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Busby Street Community Center.
There will be free school supplies, free food, and plenty of games.
United Way of the Midlands is hosting its third annual “Ready Set Supply” drive.
It aims to stock the classrooms of elementary school educators throughout the Midlands.
You can donate items like pencils, glue, and notebooks at the United Way building on Blanding Street, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The deadline to deliver supplies is Thursday, August 1.
