LCSD: Man sentenced to 15 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lexington man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine last month, said the LCSD.

Luis Palma-Salazar, 24, pled guilty to trafficking methamphetamine on June 19, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

On May 25, 2023, during a traffic stop, law enforcement say they located a quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine inside of Palma-Salazar’s vehicle, as well as a large amount of money and a ledger.

As a result of the traffic stop, deputies were able to secure a search warrant for Palma-Salazar’s motel room.

Law enforcement discovered around 111 grams of methamphetamine and over 233 grams of fentanyl and $3,843 in cash, according to the sheriff’s department.

A judge sentenced Palma-Salazar to 15 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

He was taken to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

Under South Carolina law, trafficking methamphetamine is classified as a violent, serious, and “no parole” offense.
