RCSD: Two men arrested for arson

 

 

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)–  Two men have been arrested in connection with an arson that happened on Country Haven Road in Hopkins, said RCSD.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 5:30 p.m. to an arson in the 200 block of Country Haven Road in Hopkins.

When Richland County deputies arrived to the scene, they met with a homeowner and learned that one of the men had dumped gasoline underneath a house and ignited a fire while the victim was inside.

Both men left the scene before deputies arrived, said the sheriff’s department.

Travis Tucker was arrested on Thursday, July 18, and was charged with arson 2nd degree, possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession, and unlawful carry.

When he was arrested deputies said Tucker had a gun that was reported as stolen in Richland County with an extended magazine and a Glock switch.

Tucker was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Investigators said with the help of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found Christian Irick at a family home in Florence on Thursday morning, July 25.
Following the execution of a search warrant at the home, investigators located evidence related to the initial incident on July 14.
Additionally, investigators located a large amount of narcotics and two stolen firearms.
One of the firearms was reported stolen out of Richland County and was modified with a Glock switch.
Investigators said the second firearm was reported stolen out of Orangeburg County and had also been modified, to include removal of the back plate.
A second Glock switch was also located in the home.
At the time of the initial incident on July 14, Irick was out on bond for two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a murder that took place in 2023.
He was granted bond just three months prior to the arson incident on Monday, April 15.
Irick’s bond was set at $125,000 for the murder incident and he was ordered to be on ankle monitoring, maintain gainful employment, and remain on good behavior.
Christian Irick was taken into custody by Florence County Sheriff’s Office and then transferred into Richland County Sheriff’s Department custody Thursday afternoon for the arson case.
And then he was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Irick has been charged by RCSD with criminal conspiracy.
Law enforcement said charges related to the narcotics and firearms located in the home will be Florence County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.
