COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison in connection to a fatal shooting at a nightclub in 2022, says the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
The Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office says Antwon Brown is accused of shooting Rayjon Smith at the Vegas Knights nightclub located at 3722 River Drive.
Antwon Brown and Rayjon Smith were both seen at the club that night.
According to the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, on February 13, 2022, around 3 a.m. Smith left the club and met Brown outside.
Video captured the two men speaking with one another and then crossing over River Drive to where Smith’s car was parked.
Investigators say about two minutes later there was a muzzle flash from a gun seen on the video and a figure seen running away from the area.
A witness gave Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators a nickname they believed the shooter used.
The information led to the identification of Anthony Brown as the shooter and he was arrested on February 15, 2022, while hiding out at a relative’s home, says the solicitor’s office.
