Boeing workers in door plug case felt overworked

(CNN)– Workers at Boeing say they felt pressure to work too fast and that led to mistakes.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting a two-day hearing.

Its purpose is to investigate the door plug blowout on an Alaska Airlines flight in January.

Mechanics had removed the door plug to fix some rivets near it on the plane.

One said there was no specific training to open or remove a door plug versus a regular door, and they just had to figure it out.

Interviewed workers also said the workload at the Boeing factory is so great, there’s no way to avoid mistakes.
