Samsung recalls stoves that let pets set homes ablaze

(CNN)– Samsung is issuing a safety recall because of a design flaw in some of its stoves.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 1.1 million units are affected including both gas and electric ranges.

If a flammable object is on top of the range, pets, and even humans can start a fire by bumping into the knobs.

Several videos have shown pets accidentally igniting fires by jumping onto stoves or hitting the knobs.

One video from June showed a dog in Colorado setting off a house fire in that manner.

Boxes on the stove ignited after the dog pawed at the knobs.

Samsung will provide free knob locks or covers for affected products.
