6 year old dies after being “accidentally” shot by another child

Orangeburg Co., SC (WOLO) — The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says a 6 year old has died after investigators say she was accidentally shot by another child inside of the home. According to deputies, they were called to a Eutawville home around 3:40 Wednesday afternoon following reports of a shooting.

When authorities arrived at the home they say they learned the young girl suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper body. The child was transported to an area hospital, but authorities say the child was critically wounded passing away a short time later.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell took to social media Thursday night releasing a statement surrounding the incident saying,

“My heart is extremely heavy at having to let the public know what happened,” the sheriff said. “This type of incident, this type of investigation is one of the hardest an investigator will ever do.” …“We are broken-hearted over this tragic loss of a little princess,”…“We lost someone precious this week.”
