SCSO: Teenagers kill turkeys, vandalize land
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– According to Sumter County deputies, three teens are accused of killing turkeys and vandalizing a land.
Sumter County deputies say they were called to a residence in east Sumter County on Monday, Aug. 5, to respond to the report of a civil dispute.
Investigating the complaint of a landowner, a deputy learned that after the landowner had asked juveniles to leave their property, he discovered doors to turkey houses were open and tracks from an ATV and a motorcycle were inside.
Upon entering the houses, the landowner found more than two hundred dead turkeys that appeared to have trampled one another out of fear, says the SCSO.
Deputies also found crops that looked to have been damaged by the juvenile joy riders on Sunday, Aug. 4.
After being read their Miranda rights, the three juveniles admitted to driving the vehicles on the property and inside the turkey house.
Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says they will be petitioned to family court.
